Embroidering On Leather TIPS From Melco's Application Team

Sep 22, 2008

Four simple things to consider before using your embroidery machine for embroidering on leather goods.

  1. Sample Leather
For best results, practice on a sample of the leather you are going to stitch on. This will allow you to dial in the right settings for best quality and less risk of damaging your finished product.
  2. Density
Lighten density of your design by 5-15% depending on the particular design to prevent perforation of the leather.
  3. Needle Selection
70/75 Sharp titanium needles. Melco recommends Organ Brand.
  4. Hooping
Here are some good ideas to help prevent unwanted burn marks on your leather from hooping:
    -Hoop loose then tighten.
-Use backing as a liner between your leather and the hoop or pre-wrap hoop with athletic gauze.

Following these simple steps will make a huge difference.

Denver, CO. - Chris Padilla, Under Secretary of International Trade today presented the U.S. Commerce Department’s Export Achievement Certificate to Melco of Denver, Colorado. The award is presented to businesses that have utilized the Department’s Commercial Service export assistance to make their first export sale or open new foreign markets.

"More than 95 percent of the world’s consumers are outside our borders, and companies like Melco represent some of the most innovative technologies the U.S. has to offer," said Padilla. "The Bush Administration is committed to helping U.S. firms increase their exports by opening up foreign markets to American goods and services that support high-paying jobs across Colorado and the rest of the country. I commend Melco on their outstanding export accomplishments."

"The Commercial Service has brought important expertise to the development of our export strategies," says Peter Kern, CEO "With that we have been able to improve both top and bottom line of our company."

The U.S. Commercial Service helps U.S. companies export and looks out for American business interests abroad. The Commercial Service network includes 108 domestic offices including the Denver U.S. Export Assistance Center and locations in 80 countries.
